Position Information
Wilkins Public School is a large primary school in the Inner West of Sydney. The grounds are large and leafy. Enrolments are currently at 510. 43% of students have a Language Background other than English and the school has a Family Occupation and Education Index (FOEI) of 23. There are deep connections with the local community, in particular parent and carer involvement with school function, noted by the five Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association sub-committees. There is a well-established community garden where lessons on bush care and gardening are undertaken. The school hosts impressive creative arts programs, with specialist teachers of music and drama, and extensive band and choir programs. There are two Opportunity Classes which cater for high potential and gifted education (HPGE) students in Year 5 and Year 6. We have over 50 community users who share our facilities and provide diverse extracurricular activities for all age groups, including an onsite leased preschool and an out of school hours care provider. Teaching pedagogies are firmly based upon evidence-based research. We have commenced working on our new Strategic Improvement Plan, which focuses on formative assessment; wellbeing (including social emotional learning); and supporting connections between students, staff, community and learning.

Specific Selection Criteria
1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with expertise in the use of formative assessment and data to drive school improvement.
2. Proven ability to support the wellbeing of both students and staff in systematic, evidence based ways.
3. Ability to develop a culture of high engagement for students, staff and parents.
4. Demonstrated skills in the contribution to, or development of, whole of school initiatives supporting leadership in the delivery of its strategic plan.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
