Position Information
Walters Road Public School is located in Blacktown and is part of The Bungarribee network. The school is located on Darug land and has a rich 60 year history. Our school has a student enrolment of 550. This includes 20 mainstream classes and 3 inclusive classes. Students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds with 25 of students identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples and 58% from an English as an Additional Language or Dialect background. The main languages spoken at home include Arabic, Hindi, Tagalog and Gujarati. At Walters Road Public School we offer a wide range of learning experiences and focus on success for all students. In addition to emphasising explicit teaching in literacy and numeracy, the school provides a range of extra-curricular activities to extend and enrich student learning and experiences. We value continuous improvement and excellence in academics, sports and arts. Walters Road Public School has begun teaching and learning Dharug language with the support of key Aboriginal leaders from the Darug community. This program enables and strengthens our commitment to ensure that every student achieves their potential through education.  Our Parent and Community group is actively involved within the school, and their contributions are highly valued for fostering a supportive and enriching educational environment.  Our school culture is one of inclusion for all. We provide transition programs across the school including our support unit, integrating within our mainstream classes where appropriate.
