Position Information
Wollondilly Public School is an innovative, dynamic and inclusive primary school located within the township of Goulburn in the Southern Tablelands. At present, school enrolments consist of both mainstream classes and 3 support classes - Mild Intellectual Disability (IM), Multi-Categorical (MC) and an Early Intervention Unit (EIU), with an overall enrolment of 415 students. Approximately 5% of students are from a language background other than English and 8% identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Students come from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds. The school has a Family Occupation and Education Index (FOEI) of 105.
At Wollondilly, we are committed to providing rich programs to develop skills in technology, critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaboration to enable students to reach their full potential. Through our PBL values (Safe, Respectful and Responsible), we are empowering students to take responsibility for their learning and behaviour. The school is developing a culture of evidence based, data informed decision making and aims to build the capacity of all teachers to lead, improve learning and innovate. Wollondilly is active in the performing arts and sporting areas and provides opportunities for student participation in pursuits beyond the classroom including sports, dance, recorder, band and choir. Wollondilly Public School enjoys strong community support and has a very supportive Parents and Citizens' Association (P&C). General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, successful experience, knowledge and skill to lead a high-functioning yet complex Special Education division within a mainstream public school context.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
