Position Information
South Creek School is a NSW Department of Education school currently catering for 82 students with moderate to severe disabilities including Autism, intellectual and physical. Students are referred to South Creek School through a regional placement panel and parents/caregivers may visit the school prior to enrolment. South Creek School is situated behind Riverstone High School and is an active member of The Quakers Hill Network. Currently we have 13 Multicategorical classes. The school is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school. The community has high expectations of the school and work enthusiastically in a three way partnership between the parents, staff and students.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Extensive experience teaching students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities and students with Autism, with a proven capacity to balance exemplary classroom teaching practice with the complexities and demands of the leadership role of an Assistant Principal.
- Demonstrated excellence in supporting staff to implement best practice in evidence-based, data-driven and differentiated learning and assessment experiences.
- Proven ability to positively support students with challenging and complex needs.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
