Position Information
Sherwood Grange Public School, located in a quiet suburban area in Merrylands West, has a current enrolment of 266 students. 40% of students come from Language Backgrounds other than English. The school has a three-class Inclusive Education Support Unit and a new preschool will be opened in 2027.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach special education and/or experience meeting the needs of students with a range of complex needs. Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing programs to meet the needs of students with autism, intellectual disabilities, and complex behaviours.
2. Proven ability to lead a Team Around the Child approach and work with families, staff and external agencies to meet the diverse needs of students. Demonstrated capacity to develop individual plans to support and improve learning, behaviour and wellbeing.
3. Proven capacity to lead, mentor and develop staff within an Inclusive Education Support Unit, fostering a culture of high expectations, inclusion, and equity. Experience in developing and coaching staff and promoting evidence-based teaching practices that improve student outcomes.
4. Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills to work collaboratively within a dynamic executive team, contributing to strategic initiatives that drive school-wide improvement. Demonstrated ability to implement data-informed processes, lead change management, and enhance outcomes for all students.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
