About this job

Position Information

Marrickville West Public School, located on Gadigal–Wangal Country in Sydney’s inner west, is a culturally diverse and community-focused school. Our 418 students reflect the rich diversity of the local area, with 35 language backgrounds other than English represented. Strong partnerships with families, an active P&C and an on-site School as Community Centre (SaCC) contribute to an inclusive environment where every child is known, valued and supported to thrive.

Our school priorities focus on strong literacy and numeracy outcomes, student wellbeing and engagement, and leadership development. A broad curriculum and specialist programs ensure students are challenged, inspired and supported to explore their strengths in a school culture that values participation, individuality and belonging.

The Assistant Principal Special Education is a key member of the school executive team and leads the Inclusive Learning Hub (support unit). Students belong to one of three specialist classes for learners with autism and/or moderate intellectual disability, while also participating daily in a mainstream peer class through individualised learning goals and timetables. 3. Strong knowledge of inclusive education practices and the ability to build whole-school staff capability in differentiation, adjustment and culturally responsive approaches that foster belonging, high expectations and respect for diversity.
