Position Information
Londonderry Public School is located in the semi-rural Hawkesbury region of Western Sydney and has a student enrolment of 204. In 2024, we currently have eight mainstream classes and one Multi-Categorical class for K-2 students, with two additional support classes opening in 2025. We are proud to be located on Darug land and 14% of enrolled students identify as Aboriginal. Of the enrolled students 14.7% are EALD with Maltese being the dominant cultural background. The school values a collaborative, respectful and nurturing environment that places students at the heart of the school. Staff continue to build on quality teaching, learning and academic outcomes, focusing on literacy and numeracy. The school has strong community involvement and an active P&C Association. Londonderry Public School has close ties with other schools in the Hawkesbury region being involved in the Hawkesbury PSSA and the Richmond Learning Community. The school also has a strong connection with the local Early Childhood Centre to support the early years of education and transition to primary school.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with autism, intellectual disabilities and complex learning and behavioural needs within a support class with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage the dual role of Assistant Principal and exemplary special education teacher.
Ability to promote inclusivity and integration through highly developed communication and interpersonal skills; and to foster authentic and collaborative partnerships including students, staff, parents/carers, external agencies and the wider community.
Proven ability to lead and develop evidence-based and evaluative practices to implement high quality differentiated curriculum, including the development of individualised learning programs that maximise student engagement, with a strong focus on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for all students.
Well-developed leadership skills with the ability to establish and lead a newly formed support unit in line with the DoE policies to develop and implement high quality Individual Education Plans, Personalised Learning Pathways, Behaviour Support Plans and transition planning.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
