Position Information
Lawson Public School, situated in the Blue Mountains on the traditional lands of the Dharug and Gundungurra lands, provides a nurturing and supportive learning environment for all students.
Our school has a current enrolment of 200 students, with 14% of the student population identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Lawson Public School has an inclusive Support Unit with three capability classes. School staff value their strong partnership with parents, families and the community. Our dynamic staff are highly experienced and committed to supporting all students to learn, succeed and thrive.
Lawson Public School is a Trauma Informed and Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school, and students contribute to a respectful and safe learning culture. Our school has an active and engaged P&C that works closely with our school in a variety of ways.
Lawson Public School is an active member of the Blue Mountains learning community which provides students and staff with a vast range of academic, cultural and extra curricula learning opportunities.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach special education and/ or experience teaching years
Highly developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated capacity to guide and mentor high performing teams to effectively manage conflict resolution processes and case management systems.
A visible and flexible leader with a commitment to a culture of inclusion, wellbeing and strong partnerships that value the diversity of our school community.
Proven ability to work with colleagues to plan, teach, differentiate and evaluate the impact of evidence-informed teaching strategies to maximise student engagement for improved student outcomes.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
