Position Information
Googong Public School is a purpose built future focused learning environment located on the lands of the Ngambri and Ngunnawal People, with 39 classrooms including 3 supported learning classes, catering for just over 900 students. We have 30% EAL/D population and 23 students who identify as either Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
At Googong Public School, our supported learning classes are dedicated to delivering differentiated, student-centred programs tailored to meet the diverse learning needs of our students. Our experienced and collaborative team works cohesively to foster an inclusive, supportive, and dynamic learning environment. The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in establishing our third supported learning class, working closely with and receiving strong mentorship from the existing skilled supported learning team at Googong Public School.
The successful applicant will also be responsible for shaping the directions of the supported learning program across all classes in the support unit, to ensure that all students have access to a dynamic and engaging plan based on student needs. General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with autism, intellectual disabilities and complex learning and behavioural needs within a support class, with demonstrated ability to effectively manage the dual role of Assistant Principal and exemplary special education teacher.
Proven ability to lead teams in designing, implementing and evaluating differentiated learning programs that cater to diverse student needs, supported by effective classroom and trauma informed management strategies.
Knowledge of and successful experience implementing evidence-based well being and behaviour support systems and programs, with the ability to lead and support staff to manage complex student behaviour and risk management processes.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
