Position Information
Passfield Park School for Specific Purposes is a dedicated centre of educational excellence, specifically catering to students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, often accompanied by complex behavioural and emotional needs. We serve a diverse student population of 105 students ranging from K-12 from various cultural backgrounds, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.
Our school prioritises the implementation of the Zones of Regulation framework, which aids students in developing essential emotional regulation skills and self-awareness. We are committed to delivering innovative, student-centred personalised educational programs that promote independence, well-being, and successful transitions into post-school life.
We employ Positive Behaviour for Learning principles to encourage positive behaviours and create a nurturing classroom culture. Additionally, we utilise Trauma-Informed Practices to ensure that our educational strategies are sensitive to the individual experiences of our students, helping them build resilience and a sense of safety.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with complex learning needs
- Demonstrated capacity to lead educational transformation and foster a positive school culture, emphasising equity, excellence, collaboration, and high expectations to empower individuals as future-focused global citizens.
- Leadership and experience dealing with complex challenging behaviours and demonstrated ability to support and lead staff to plan for and manage these behaviours.
- Capacity to be a dynamic member of the executive leadership team and to lead initiatives that address the whole school strategic directions and nurture positive, quality relationships across the school community
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
