Position Information

Gymea Bay Public School is located in the southern suburbs of Sydney on the traditional lands of the Dharawal people and has a population of 745 students. Gymea Bay Public School promotes practices that support student wellbeing, ensuring inclusivity, connectedness and a positive mindset whilst engaging students in learning through evidence-based practices. The Strategic Improvement Plan (2021 - 2025) focuses on student growth through high quality teaching programs, data driven differentiation and authentic collaboration in the pursuit of academic excellence. Starting in 2025, the newly established Inclusive Education Hub, featuring three dedicated classes, will provide specialist and intensive support for eligible students with Autism. There is a strong relationship with a proactive P&C consisting of parents, carers and the wider community. With a proud history in both sports and performing arts, Gymea Bay Public School is dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive and thriving learning environment for all students.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, 

Approval to teach special education and/or experience and expertise to improve learning outcomes for students K-6 with autism, intellectual disabilities and complex and diverse needs.

Proven ability to lead evidence-based and evaluative practices to implement high quality differentiated curriculum including the development and implementation of student personalised learning plans, behaviour support plans and transition plans, that impact positively on student engagement, a culture of inclusion and whole school improvement.

Demonstrated ability to work as part of a dynamic leadership team; strategically planning, leading and monitoring initiatives, and applying evaluative practices to drive continuous improvement. 

Evidence of a highly visible, approachable and collaborative leader with a capacity to build and maintain positive, inclusive, trusting relationships and partnerships with students, families, staff, external agencies and the wider community.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Special Notes

The commencement date for this position will be day 1 of the 2025 school year.
