Position Information

Glenmore Park Public School, is in western Sydney and acknowledges the Dharug peoples as traditional custodians of our land. Student population is approximately 500 students, across 20 mainstream classes and 3 support classes. The Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student population is 8% and students from a language speaking background other than English is 17%. Students are empowered to be critical and creative thinkers, equipped with the knowledge and compassion to live rewarding lives as engaged citizens in a complex and dynamic society. A diverse range of additional educational activities is provided to allow growth and development in a multitude of ways. Positive Behaviour for Learning is promoted through the school.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, 

Approval to teach Special Education and/or demonstrated experience and expertise in leading the collaborative delivery of quality, personalised teaching and learning programs to support students with autism, intellectual disability and complex communication needs that can impact on behaviour and learning engagement.

High-level organisational and management skills to balance classroom teaching with the complex administration demands of the Assistant Principal role, in line with Department of Education policies and procedures to successfully manage specialist support classes with a genuine culture of inclusion and integration.

Ability to lead and  support colleagues to plan and implement evidence - based and evaluative practices using contemporary knowledge and understanding of curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements to deliver high quality differentiated learning and teaching programs.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
