Position Information
As an Assistant Principal at George Bass School, you will be supported by an experienced leadership team and a dedicated staff, so if you are ready for a new challenge that will allow you to share your passion for teaching through leading and inspiring your team to positively impact the lives of students with disability through inclusive learning programs, you are invited to consider your future as an educational leader at George Bass School. General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Experience in teaching students with moderate and severe intellectual disability with expansive knowledge in integrating student communication systems into learning programs with the ability to lead and mentor others in adopting communication practices which enhance functional communication skills.
- Empathetic engagement with colleagues, parents, and external service providers to build positive community relationships and provide consistent and equitable support for students.
- Ability to lead and manage challenging and unexpected situations through collaboration and teamwork using skills in dynamic decision-making and problem-solving, effective communication, and task delegation.
- Experience in using departmental policies, practices and people creatively to personalise educational experiences that ensure each student learns, thrives, and is prepared for life.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
