Position Information

Flinders Public School has an enrolment of 520 students.  The school supports 22 mainstream classes and 2 Autism support classes.  Our students celebrate a diverse cultural background with over 20 languages identified.  There are 48 students who identify as First Nation students. Flinders Public School is located approximately 1.5 hours south of Sydney, on the South Coast on Dharawal land. Flinders Public School is an inclusive school which nurtures the social success of each individual by maintaining a positive and caring environment. The school culture is built on the values of caring for yourself, caring for each other and caring for this place. The school as established in 2003 and has well-equipped and modern facilities. The school P&C is very supportive. Flinders Public School is literally the hub of the community.  The partnership between home, community and our school promotes learning, personal best and collective responsibilities for all.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, 

  1. Approval to teach special education and / or extensive experience teaching students K-6 with complex disabilities, with demonstrated capacity and experience in balancing exemplary classroom practice and coordination of the complex leadership and management role of an Assistant Principal Inclusion and Support.
  2. Demonstrated capacity to lead and foster a positive school-wide culture and practice of inclusion and equity td drive continuous improvement as part of a dynamic leadership team.
  3. Evidence of a highly visible, approachable and collaborative leader with the capacity to develop, implement and maintain inclusive and trusting relationships with students, families, staff, the leadership team and the wider community.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
