Position Information
Cecil Hills Public School (enrolment 718 students, including 4 autism support classes and 76% from a non-English speaking background and 9 Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander students) has a dedicated and talented staff and enjoys a strong partnership with a diverse local community. Cecil Hills Public School promotes strong academic, cultural and sporting achievement in a caring, nurturing and dynamic learning environment. This position is explicitly for an Assistant Principal of a support unit. This is a full time teaching and leadership position.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach special education, qualifications in and/or experience teaching students with complex learning needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder with diverse learning, behavioural and emotional needs K-6.
2. Expert leadership skills with the ability to lead a support unit in line with DoE policies ensuring the delivery of high quality differentiated curriculum, including Personalised Learning and Support Plans, Personalised Learning Pathways, Behaviour Support Plans, Risk Assessments and transition planning.
3. Enthusiastic proactive leadership with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire staff, students and parents to build a community and culture of inclusivity within the support unit and across the school, creating collaborative partnerships with families and with the best interest of each child.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
