Position Information
Bligh Park Public School is a NSW Department of Education (DoE) primary school situated on the land of the Darug People. Bligh Park Public School has 22 teaching staff and an enrolment of 305 students, 49 of whom identify as Aboriginal. There are 12 mainstream classes and 7 support classes. The support unit has a Deputy Principal Inclusion & Support. The school is supported by the P&C and enjoys strong partnerships with the community. Bligh Park Public School provides opportunities in the performing arts and has a proud sporting history. The school promotes lifelong learning and students are taught to be safe, respectful and responsible learners.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with disabilities, including students with intellectual disabilities, students with autism and emotional disturbance.
Demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum and implement individualised learning programs that maximise student engagement, with a strong focus on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for all students.
Experience dealing with multiple and complex challenging behaviours and the ability to support and lead staff to plan for and manage these behaviours.
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated capacity to work as an
Strong organisational and administrative skills, and demonstrated ability to balance classroom teaching with the demands of an executive role.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
