Position Information

Ropes Crossing Public School is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) school which was established in 2008, providing quality teaching and learning programs to a student population of approximately 730 Kindergarten to Year 6 students.

Enrolments include 66% of students from language backgrounds other than English, with the largest representations from India, Philippines, Africa and the Pacific Islands. Our diverse student body is comprised of over forty-five language groups. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student enrolments total 9.5%.

Ropes Crossing Public School has been open for 17 years and experienced a significant amount of growth during its first few years. Our permanent home bases are supplemented with demountable classrooms in order to accommodate this growth. Our enrolment numbers have stabilised over recent years.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with a demonstrated capacity to work successfully with the leadership team, balancing exemplary teaching with the demands and the complexities of a leadership role.

     2.  A visible and approachable leader with the ability to demonstrate strong emotional intelligence and outstanding interpersonal skills to initiate, build and strengthen positive and trusted partnerships with students, parents, staff and the wider community.

     3. Evidence of a deep understanding of students and staff wellbeing and equity and diversity to build positive relationships and a culture that ensures every student can thrive and flourish, including those identified as HPGE.

 
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
