St Catherine's Catholic College, The Whitsundays is is seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Principal - Pedagogy and Learning. This is a permanent teaching role with a five year fixed-term appointment to the Assistant Principal - Pedagogy and Learning position. This role commences January, 2025.  

The position of Assistant Principal - Pedagogy and Learning shares with the Principal the responsibility for learning and teaching and the development of both high expectations of students and staff and a high performance culture in the school measured through student engagement and student outcomes.

The Assistant Principal - Pedagogy and Learning will assume a senior leadership role, working with staff to drive the development, implementation and evaluation of teaching and student learning and growth across the school.

Mandatory Criteria/Professional Registration/Other

  • Appropriate Tertiary qualification with registration or eligibility for registration with Queensland College of Teachers
  • Postgraduate qualification for a position of senior leadership in Catholic schools, which includes attainment of/commitment to the completion of a minimum of 8 semester units of postgraduate study in Religious Education, Scripture, Theology, Catholic Ethos from an Australian Catholic university or institution.
  • Full accreditation to teach in a Catholic School and accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school
  • The capacity to enact leadership focused on living and sharing the Catholic faith, the Mission of the Church and the Catholic school ethos, with the intention of influencing and enriching the lives of students, staff and other members of the school community.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville

Desirable Criteria

  • Five years of successful teaching experience, preferably across a range of year-levels
  • Masters or other post graduate qualification in Theology, Religious Education or Educational Leadership
  • Can show evidence of educational, pastoral, theological and managerial aspects of school leadership.
