Position Information

Located in the Girraween network, Northmead Public School opened in 1924 with current student enrolment numbers of 600. The school has a diverse population with approximately 50% from a language background other than English. Less than 1% of student population identify as being Aboriginal.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary,
  1. A proven capacity to work and lead collaboratively as part of a team and effectively balance the dual role of an exemplary teacher and the complex responsibilities of an Assistant Principal.

  2. Demonstrated ability to strategically lead whole school curriculum implementation for impact, through a data informed lens, to drive pedagogical change and strategic improvement.

  3. Demonstrated capacity to lead whole school initiatives and wellbeing programs that focus on the school’s wellbeing framework, the enhancement of student experience, developing a sense of belonging and advancing student outcomes, including those identified as HPGE.

  4. A highly visible and approachable leader with strong interpersonal skills, promoting public education to build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with all stakeholders.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
