Position Information

Lurnea Public School is a warm and welcoming primary school located in South Western Sydney, serving over 450 students from Pre-School to Year 6 across 23 classes (including 6 Support Classes). The school is focussing on Vocabulary, Reading, Writing and Numeracy along with strong engagement programs for all students. Explicit teaching remains a key focus area in professional learning and staff promote PBL practices across the school in a supportive, and high-quality learning environment. Over 70% of students have a language background other than English, and approximately 7% of students identify as Aboriginal.  The socio-economic background of students is diverse with a FOEI of 163.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary
Demonstrated ability to lead, model, and implement data-driven, evidence-based practices, within teams to ensure improvement in student outcomes.
Evidence of highly effective and collaborative leadership that builds whole school capacity to achieve the strategic directions of the school.
Proven leadership capacity in managing effective behaviour strategies through the school’s wellbeing initiatives,  attendance and learning support processes.
 
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
