Assistant Principals Learning and Support provide direct and timely advice and assistance to support teachers and their students. Their role is underpinned by a collaborative and consultative approach and their work emphasises individual school priorities, regional priorities, and evidence-based programs to assist students with additional learning and support needs. They also provide professional support for learning and support teachers through professional learning activities, network meetings, and individual advice and support. This position is based at Beresford Road Public School and covers schools in the Girraween Principal network. The ability to travel is essential for the successful candidate.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria:
  1. approval to teach students with learning and support needs (primary/secondary) and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs (primary/secondary) in regular classes. 
  2. capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs and their teachers.
  3. proven ability to promote and support the development of effective learning and support teams within schools.
  4. demonstrated capacity to collaborate effectively and strategically with school executive and Team around a School staff to provide professional learning, consultative advice and specialist assistance to schools across all settings.
 
 
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
