Position Information

Barellan Central School is located in the West Wyalong Principal network. Barellan Central School has 54 students and is the base school location for the APLAS position. This position is to support the schools of the West Wyalong Principal network spanning 18 schools, in conjunction with Team Around A School NSBT staff.

West Wyalong Principal network consists of teaching principal schools, primary schools, central schools, and high schools. Many of these are in rural settings with limited access to external services. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering evidence-based programs that enhance the learning and support outcomes for students with additional needs across this network, working over multiple schools on any given day. 

 

 

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, 
1. Approval to teach students with learning support needs primary and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs (primary/secondary) in regular classes. With proven capability to provide specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs and their teachers. 
2. Demonstrated ability to provide specialist advice and professional support to a range of school-based personnel across multiple schools concurrently, including Leaning and Support Teachers, to develop and successfully implement adjusted educational programs for students with additional learning and support needs.
3. Demonstrated capability to effectively liaise with Team Around a School to ensure the coordinated prioritisation and delivery of support for students with additional learning and support needs.  
4. Proven ability to work collaboratively and enhance the capability of school-based Learning and Support Teams across a network by providing professional learning to schools, that assist teachers to enhance learning outcomes for students with additional learning and support needs. 
 
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
