Hillvue Public School is situated in the regional centre of Tamworth. It is a Connected Communities school with an emphasis on innovation, opportunity and success. Assistant principals are critical to ensuring the success of teaching and learning by promoting an inclusive and enabling culture. They lead learning, build capabilities and provide support for their team members. Their role is characterised by their educational expertise, their ability to effectively lead teams, and their strategic leadership. They are responsive to the changing circumstances specific to their students, teachers, school and community. Assistant principal contribute to the school's strategic visio9n, which is aligned to the department's NSW Public Education Plan. They work as part of a team with the principal, executive team, staff and community to develop and facilitate a positive school culture. They are collaborative, collegial and empathetic leaders who work closely with others to create and sustain the conditions in which the values of public education flourish.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary 
1. Demonstrated high capacity to work closely with the principal and executive team to embed explicit teaching practices and rigorous use of data and evidence to drive student outcomes.
2. Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills to consult and enhance partnerships with all stakeholders to support inclusive learning and wellbeing of students, staff and families.
3. Demonstrated capacity to lead, mentor and develop the skills of a team of experienced and early career teachers in achieving a culture of continuous improvement and collegiality whilst showing a knowledge of and commitment to relevant Department policies including the Connected Communities Strategy along with the Key Deliverables and the NSW Public Education Plan.
4. Proven to be visible and approachable leader who has strong organisational skills to balance exemplary classroom teaching practice with the complexities and demands of the leadership role of an assistant principal.
 
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
