Position Information

Granville Public School, located in Western Sydney, has a student enrolment of 650 including Preschool to Year 6, and 7 Special Education Support Unit Classes. The school culture is that of connectedness, inclusion, and belonging with students, staff, parents, and the wider community working together to promote growth and school excellence. Our school is supported by a strong and vibrant multi-cultural community. Our Arabic and Chinese Community Language Program supports students in maintaining and developing further communicative competence in their community language. 95% of our students have a language background other than English, and 99.6%, of these students require some level of EAL/D (English as an Additional Language or Dialect) support. Less than 1% of students identify as Aboriginal. Our students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds. Extra-curricular opportunities enable our students to excel through a range of different experiences.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria:
Approval to teach K-6 and experience in balancing exemplary classroom practice and coordination of the complex leadership and management role of an Assistant Principal.
Strong instructional leadership to contribute to and oversee both stage and whole school, evidence-based teaching and learning programs (including explicit teaching) with a focus on shared professional growth, to positively impact on student learning outcomes.

Demonstrated ability to lead and contribute to whole school improvement initiatives which positively impact on student, teacher and community outcomes.

A visible leader with the ability to demonstrate strong emotional intelligence and outstanding interpersonal skills to initiate, build and strengthen positive partnerships with students, parents, staff and the wider community.
