Position Information

Claymore Public School is located in South-West Sydney and acknowledges the Dharawal people as the tradition custodians of the area. The school has a total enrolment of 284 students from Preschool to Year 6, including 59 students in the support unit (consisting of an IM, IO, 3 Autism and 2 Early Intervention classes). There are 58% of students from a language background other than English and 19% of students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The school caters for students from diverse language, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and aims to develop the whole child and cater for individual differences, providing many programs to support student's specific needs. The school values a collaborative, respectful and nurturing environment that places students at the heart of the school. Staff continue to build on quality teaching, learning, and well-being practices, with a commitment to improving student's social, emotional and academic outcomes, focusing on literacy and numeracy.

The school's FOEI (family occupation and employment index) is 164 and the Claymore community is currently going through a redevelopment which will continue over the next 5 years.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with
1. Demonstrated experience and impact of leading teaching and learning, ensuring evidence-based teaching practices have direct impact on student growth and achievement.
2. Experience developing and leading positive education and wellbeing initiatives that build resilience and collaboration, supporting a culture of care and the pursuit of personal best.
3. Demonstrated ability to expertly lead and enhance the capacity of all staff in a complex learning environment to collaborate, implement and evaluate whole school initiatives.
4. Evidence of highly developed emotional intelligence and visible leadership to further strengthen authentic partnerships with our diverse school community.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
