Position Information
Centaur Public School is located in Banora Point on the far North Coast of New South Wales. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is located, the Nganduwal/Minjungbal people of the Bundjalung Nation, and the Goodjinburra clan where our school is located. The school is a focal point of the community and caters for students in Kindergarten to Year 6. In 2025, Centaur has a student enrollment of 433 across 23 classes, including 3 support classes. Our school promotes cultural identity and caters to the needs of a growing multicultural demographic. There are 52 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students within the school and 10 students who identify English as an Alternate Language/Dialect (EAL/D). Centaur enjoys positive partnerships with the Tweed/Wollumbin Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) and the Centaur Parents and Citizens Association (P&C). Centaur has a proud sporting history, provides opportunities in the performing arts and promotes positive behaviour through Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), with our core values being, respectful, responsible and ready.

In addition to the General Selection Criteria, approval to teach Infants and/or Primary:

Demonstrated ability as a strong leader in enhancing staff capacity to implement school-wide strategies that prioritise the wellbeing and educational outcomes of Aboriginal students.

Demonstrated ability to lead and evaluate evidence-based practices through data-driven processes, ensuring high-quality differentiated teaching and learning that fosters a culture of ongoing improvement.

Proven capacity to work proactively as part of a dynamic leadership team and effectively balance the dual roles of an exemplary teacher with the complex responsibilities of an Assistant Principal.

Evidence of visible leadership, demonstrating outstanding interpersonal skills to enhance school culture and strengthen authentic partnerships with the entire school community.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
