Position Information

Busby West Public School is a school committed to creating engaging, purposeful and challenging learning programs and environments that develop the skills needed for all students to become independent life-long learners in a complex global world.

Current enrolment is 402 students which includes 80 preschool students (40 FTE), 62 students across 7 support unit classes, and 11 mainstream classes. Enrolments have declined slightly over the last 5 years. Only 25% of preschool students are local enrolments and feed into kindergarten.

Our current FOEI is 160. There are 225 (56%) K-6 English as an Alternate Language or Dialect students. There are 39 (10%) P-6 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Busby West is a complex school and receives substantial funding due to socio-economic background.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with the proven capacity to balance exemplary classroom teaching practices with the complex responsibilities of a school leadership role.

Highly developed educational leadership skills with an expertise in building the capacity of all staff to meet student needs, with a strong focus on explicit teaching and implementing new curriculum.

Proven ability to strengthen a dynamic and responsive school-wide approach to student inclusion, wellbeing, attendance and behaviour management processes enabling every student to connect, succeed, and thrive.

Demonstrated capacity to foster relationships with the broader community in the successful implementation of whole school initiatives, wellbeing practices and extra-curricular activities.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
