Position Information
Box Hill Public School is a new site on Terry Road, Box Hill. The temporary school site will be located on George Street, Box Hill and is due to open early in 2025. The school is located in the Northwest Growth Area of Sydney and is expected to experience rapid growth enrolment in the first five years of operation. Box Hill Public School is situated in a culturally diverse area which is driven by a community that values high expectations and learning.
Phase one of the build will be to open the temporary school site and when the permanent school is completed the school will have capacity for up to 1,000 students. The permanent school will include three support classes for students with disability. The permanent school incorporates an innovative, agile teaching and learning areas.
Due to the unique and complex nature of opening a new school the four Assistant Principals will commence in Term 4 2024, prior to the establishment of the temporary school early in 2025.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary
1. Demonstrated capacity to work as part of a dynamic leadership team, balancing exemplary classroom practice with the complexities of a leadership role and the implementation of whole school initiatives.
2. Expertise to lead the development and implementation of high quality, differentiated programs in literacy and numeracy, with the proven ability to mentor staff in implementing evidence informed practices that drive continuous improvement.
3. Proven ability to strengthen a dynamic and responsive schoolwide approach to student inclusion and wellbeing, enabling every student to learn, grow and belong.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
