Position Information

Bletchington Public School is one of six public primary schools in Orange. It is situated in the northern quadrant of the Orange township and caters for a number of significant new housing developments in the area. The school is highly regarded in the Orange community and offers opportunities for students in band, dance, Schools Spectacular, choir, DaVinci Decathlon, public speaking, debating and a broad range of sports. Bletchington Public School boasts extensive grounds and play spaces, a school hall, and an adjoining public park.

Bletchington Public School has recently been upgraded with several new buildings and refurbished learning spaces. The school has an active P&C.

The school has a current enrolment of 515 students where 19.2% of the school population identify as either Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students. There is a small percentage (2.6%) of students who come from non-English speaking backgrounds. Bletchington Public School caters for students from a broad socio-economic range and has a Family Occupation and Education Index (FOEI) of 115.  

The school will also have 4 support classes in 2025.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary 
  1. Approval to teach infants and/or primary (K-6) with demonstrated capacity and experience in balancing exemplary classroom practice and coordination of the complex leadership and management role of an Assistant Principal.
  2. Proven capacity to lead a whole-school initiative working collaboratively with the leadership team to develop and lead targeted, differentiated pedagogical practices to improve student outcomes.
  3. Demonstrated ability to foster a school culture that promotes the inclusive learning, wellbeing and attendance of a diverse range of learners, including students who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds or have complex learning needs

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
