Position Information

Barramurra Public School is a newly established primary school, opening at the commencement of 2021, located in the suburb of Oran Park in South Western Sydney. The school has a current enrolment of 1178 students and includes four support unit classes catering for students with a moderate intellectual disability and autism. Barramurra Public School has 45 Aboriginal students and serves a rapidly growing multicultural community with 59% of our students having a language background other than English. Our students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds.

The school has a strong focus on quality teaching including literacy, numeracy and engagement of students through information technologies. A committed staff work in collaborative teams to design, implement and deliver effective programs to improve student outcomes through setting high expectations and differentiating the curriculum.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary and the proven capacity to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic leadership team and effectively balance the dual roles of an exemplary classroom teacher and the complex responsibilities of an Assistant Principal.
 2. Proven ability to lead and mentor staff of varying experience in the implementation of evidence-informed, high-quality teaching practices with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy, tailored to meet the diverse needs of students to ensure that all students achieve maximum learning growth each year.
3. Proven capacity to manage effective behaviour strategies in alignment with the school’s wellbeing initiatives, attendance and learning support processes.
4. Demonstrated highly visible, approachable and collaborative leader with outstanding interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build and maintain relationships and partnerships with students, staff and community.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
