Position Information

Barramurra Public School is a newly established primary school, opening at the commencement of 2021, located in the suburb of Oran Park in South Western Sydney. The school has a current enrolment of 1056 students and includes four support unit classes catering for students with a moderate intellectual disability and autism. Barramurra Public School serves a rapidly growing multicultural community with 59% of our students having a language background other than English. Our students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds.

The school has a strong focus on quality teaching including literacy, numeracy and engagement of students through information technologies. A committed staff work in collaborative teams to design, implement and deliver effective programs to improve student outcomes through setting high expectations and differentiating the curriculum.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
approval to teach infants and/or primary with the emotional intelligence and organisational skills to work collaboratively as part of an executive team and effectively balance the dual roles of exemplary classroom teacher and the complex responsibilities of the Assistant Principal role.

Expertise to lead the development and implementation of high quality, differentiated programs in literacy and numeracy, with a proven ability to mentor and guide staff in implementing data informed, evidence-based practices that drive continuous improvement.

Proven ability to lead student wellbeing initiatives, with a strong commitment to and understanding of the diverse needs of students and families from diverse cultural backgrounds to facilitate an inclusive school culture

-        Evidence of an approachable and highly visible leader with outstanding interpersonal skills and the proven ability to build and maintain relational trust with students, staff, parents and the wider community to enhance their wellbeing, engagement and performance.
