Position Information

Annandale North Public School is situated in Annandale, in the inner west of Sydney. It is on Gadigal land and is part of the Eora nation. The school occupies a small site. The community is highly engaged and holds high expectations for student educational success.  

Our school has a student enrolment of 380. The student population includes 26% of students with a language background other than English and 11 students identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. The school's current staffing entitlement is 15 classes, which comprises 20.078 teaching and 2.9 non-teaching staff. The school also employs a part-time language teacher, one PDHPE teacher and one Learning and Support teacher. The P&C Association offer strong community support and participates in school-based decision-making.

Students are encouraged to develop independent learning skills and to accept responsibility and direction for their learning. Teachers assess students regularly to ensure learning is differentiated, challenging and engaging. A strong wellbeing program runs throughout the school, with students meeting in cross-stage groups to encourage inclusivity and connectedness. The school has diverse extracurricular activities, including a well-established and flourishing Band and Strings program, choir, debating and public speaking.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary, with proven capacity to effectively balance the role of an exemplary classroom teacher with the complex responsibilities of a leadership role.
2. Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and mentor teachers to develop effective literacy and numeracy programs that embed differentiated teaching and learning opportunities and high expectations to meet the diverse needs of all students.
 
3. Proven capacity to work as a collaborative member of the executive team to strategically plan and lead initiatives and apply evidence-informed practices that contribute to the school’s strategic directions.
4. Proven leadership capacity in managing effective wellbeing, attendance, and learning support processes that help students connect, succeed, thrive, and learn.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
