Position Information

Ivanhoe Central School is an inclusive, country school located between Broken Hill and Griffith. The school has excellent facilities, which include well-resourced classrooms, attractive surroundings and a proudly maintained, productive Outback Adventure Farm.

The school's role in the community is a pivotal one, providing and supporting many services that would otherwise be unavailable. Enrolment of 29 students includes 60% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. 

A motivated primary staff, along with specialist secondary staff, deliver an integrated science and technology curriculum K-12. The student-driven curriculum provides opportunities for the students to engage in STEM, VET and creative and performing arts. The school curriculum is delivered through a Primary, and High  school model which focuses on individual learning, wellbeing and social needs of each student. Stage 6 is delivered through the Wilvandee Access Program.

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria;

  • Approval to teach infants and/or Stage1 , Stage 2 and Stage 3. A demonstrated ability in leading the development of high quality, whole school differentiated programs in literacy and numeracy, with an emphasis on evidence-based practice.

  • Proven ability to analyse and use a range of data to build the capacity of individuals and teams, to improve student outcomes.
  • Proactive behaviour management skills and the ability to develop and maintain respectful, positive relationships that connect with students and support the improvement of wellbeing outcomes.
  • Highly visible leadership with the ability to work collaboratively in teams to build respectful partnerships and engage students, staff and parents within a diverse school community.
 
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
