About this job
The Assistant Head of Mission will support the Head of Mission in the development, provision and administration of appropriate student and staff faith formation programs, prayer, liturgy, retreats, immersions, community welfare and social justice programs, in line with the Good Samaritan Education Philosophy of Education.
The key responsibilities of the position include:
- Spiritual formation - Work in collaboration with the Head of Mission and the College Leadership Team to ensure that Christ-centred spiritual induction and ongoing formation programs for students and staff are appropriate, relevant and of the highest quality.
- Faith Development – through various initiatives will support and encourage students in their personal faith journey.
- Prayer and Liturgy – assist the Head of Mission and Leadership Team to provide regular and appropriate prayer and liturgy at the College.
- Community Outreach/Community Engagement – working with the Head of Mission and Social Justice Committee to support the College and College community’s involvement in community events which reflect the Benedictine, Good Samaritan charism and values of the College.
- Student Retreats and Reflection Days
- Staff Formation
- Deputising – for the Head of Mission when required.
- Teaching Requirements – The role is 0.8FTE teaching and 0.2FTE Leadership, with a Level 1 Leadership Allowance.

- Demonstrated commitment to faith development and actively promoting the Catholic ethos of the College
- Providing personal witness to a journey of faith through work and action
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with staff, students and parents
- Appropriate university degree, teaching qualification and NESA accreditation
- Strong understanding and experience of secondary school Religious Education curriculum
- Ability to teach Stage 6 SOR (One and Two Unit)
- Passion for professional development and continuous learning.
