About the Role
The Assistant Director of Student Development (Wellbeing and Pastoral Program) plays a key role in leading programs that support Senior School students' academic, personal, and social development. This position focuses on enhancing student wellbeing and fostering a positive and inclusive Senior School experience for students and their families. The role holder is crucial in promoting a child-safe environment and safeguarding, adhering to both local and national legal frameworks and school policies to ensure that every child at Canberra Grammar School is seen, heard, and respected.
About You
You are dedicated, and passionate and possess the following:
- Experience in the care of students or young people in a school environment
- Demonstrated understanding in handling sensitive and confidential matters
- Experience in leading and managing teams
- Demonstrated ability to handle difficult conversations
- Contemporary understanding of wellbeing in schools and relevant academic research
- Strong communication skills with students, parents and CGS team members: both written and verbal
- The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail, including following procedures, ensuring high-quality output and taking action where required
- The ability to plan and organise – prioritise, schedule, use available resources, drive workflow, problem solve, manage competing deadlines
- Possess a proactive, flexible and versatile attitude that is responsive to changing priorities
- Excellent influencing skills - possess a personable and approachable nature with the ability to communicate effectively and develop relationships with people across the organisation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and an aptitude for learning new IT systems such as those used at the School (CGS Connect, Synergetic, REACH)
- A current and active teacher’s registration issued by the ACT TQI, demonstrating compliance with professional standards and eligibility to teach in the Australian Capital Territory
All team members at CGS are required to have:
- Appropriate qualifications
- A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card
- A current National Police Check; and
- Full working rights within Australia.
