About the Role
The Assistant Director of Academic Education (IBDP) provides strategic and operational leadership for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Years 11 and 12. The role leads programme coherence, pedagogy, assessment integrity and student progress across the Diploma. It develops teacher capability and the leaders of the core components, and sustains the confidence of students, families and the wider community in the Diploma as a credible, globally oriented and distinctive senior pathway. The role supports ongoing programme development against the IB Programme standards and practices, including the areas of Purpose, Environment, Culture and Learning.
The role is accountable for the implementation, development and review of the Diploma Programme. It contributes to academic planning and continuity across Years 10 to 12 in relation to Diploma pathway readiness and works closely with the IBCP Coordinator to sustain coherent leadership and a seamless experience for students across the senior IB pathways.
The role follows through on the School's commitment to educational excellence and helps form the curious, creative, confident, compassionate citizens the School exists to develop.
About You
You are dedicated, passionate and possess the following:
- A relevant tertiary degree and a recognised teaching qualification, with current ACT Teacher Quality Institute registration or eligibility for it
- Demonstrated capacity to lead the implementation, coordination, review and development of a senior academic programme in a way that is credible, coherent and aligned with School priorities
- Strong knowledge of, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, including its philosophy, structures, assessment requirements and programme expectations
- Demonstrated capacity to use performance data and evidence to drive academic standards, identify need and direct timely intervention
- Excellent written English, effective interpersonal communication and strong technological literacy
- Ability to act as a confident point of leadership for IBDP matters through effective liaison, communication, advocacy and representation with colleagues, students, families and relevant external stakeholders
- Capacity to maintain high standards in documentation, assessment related processes, reporting requirements, examination integrity and operational follow through
- Strong understanding of professional, regulatory and policy obligations, including safeguarding, confidentiality and role-related compliance requirements
- Ability to guide students and families with clarity and care in relation to pathways, programme suitability, expectations and post-school readiness
- Ability to build professional trust, strengthen collaborative culture and exercise leadership with sound judgement, clarity and accountability.
