About the Role
St Lawrence’s Catholic Primary School in Coonabarabran, NSW has an exciting opportunity for an Agriculture/School Support Officer to join the team on a temporary basis in 2025. The role will be a part-time position where the hours may slightly vary based on students’ needs.
The Agriculture/School Support Officer will support the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality instruction to students in a Catholic School setting. The role will involve:
- Under the supervision of teaching staff, prepare and deliver indoor and outdoor learning experiences, including the setting up for and preparation livestock for student Agriculture lessons
- Teaching Agriculture students how to prepare and safely lead livestock for local shows
- Maintenance and care of chickens and coop including collecting food scraps from the canteen and staffroom, complete general welfare checks
- Preparing livestock for local shows including but not limited to shearing, tanning, clipping, washing
- Maintenance and preparing garden beds ready for cultivation of vegetables by students
- Assisting with general School Support Officer duties during off show times

About You
The Agriculture/School Support Officer will align with the following selection criteria:
- Be experienced in agricultural practices with the ability to carry out numerous agricultural tasks (e.g. feeding livestock, maintaining watering systems, move electric fences, etc)
- Be able to work without supervision while meeting deadlines
- Have good communication skills and be able to work as part of a team
- The capacity to work collegially and collaborate within a diverse team
- Sound communication and organisational skills, punctuality and adaptability
- Sound personal skills that include patience, understanding and perseverance characteristics that provide a positive role model to students at St Lawrence’s both in their professional and personal life
- Hold a current Working with Children’s Check
