St Thomas More College, SUNNYBANK are seeking an Administration School Officer to join our welcoming and vibrant school community.
The Vocational Education/Careers Administration Officer provides administrative and practical support to the Program Leader - VET. An astute awareness and understanding of the role of the Program Leader as well as the importance of Vocational and Career Education are essential elements of this position. As the main contact point for both students and employers, the role holder is integral to the provision of vocational and career opportunities to students. The role holder operates within the Catholic educational environment and culture and will be supportive of the Catholic ethos and Mission of the College.
Typical duties performed include but are not limited to:
- Assist the Program Leader - VET to promote Vocational and Career Education to the school community.
- Initiate contact with potential employers to secure work experience placements for students.
- Assist with the sourcing of suitable school-based apprenticeships and traineeships for students, including liaising with Registered Training Organisations (RTO).
- Organise meetings between training providers, employers and students to negotiate work placements, apprenticeships and traineeships.
- Prepare and track all relevant documentation to register apprenticeships and traineeships - Education, Training and Employment Schedule (ETES).
- Liaise with the employers of students on work experience and students undertaking school-based apprenticeship or traineeship to monitor progress and welfare.
- Ensure that the eMinerva database is updated with data and information on students undertaking work placement, apprenticeships and traineeships.
- Liaising with the Program Leader, communicate with students to keep them informed of current career pathways and course opportunities offered by tertiary institutions.
- Provide guidance and assistance to students completing resumes, making job applications and seeking part time employment.
- Display proven communication and interpersonal skills, as well as an understanding the student learning environment.
