The Queensland Children's Hospital School (known also as QCHS) and its regional hospital program partners offer world class educational programs to school-aged children affected by hospitalisation, including patients and family members of hospitalised patients across Queensland to ensure educational continuity for all.

QCH School offers programs for students from Kindy to Year 12 and includes students from the state, Catholic and independent sectors. Students at QCHS present with a range of medical, developmental, behavioural, emotional and mental health conditions. About the Role

Responsibilities include:

  • As the Administrative Officer, you will provide a range of administrative activities and operations including data entry, computing and clerical support for the effective operations of the office, in accordance with legislative, policy and procedural requirements
  • This will include maintaining accurate records, tracking staff data and assisting in identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities for the efficient and effective to support school operations.
  • Assisting the Business Manager with new employee management, leave procedures and HR compliance including TRS replacement procedures, casual claims processing and assisting with staff replacements. RRTW training is desirable to provide Injury Management support for staff.
  • Co-ordinate weekly timetabling of support including playground duties for both teaching and non-teaching staff.
  • Support productive working relationships with an ability to consult with staff at all levels and to develop and maintain effective working relationships with external clients or contractors. Ability to communicate with empathy and influence in order to address problems and obtain cooperation and assistance in meeting required objectives.
  • High level of organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritise your workload to meet deadlines. Well-developed, interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to maintain confidentiality, while developing positive working relationships with a wide variety of individuals within the school community.
  • Other suitable duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the supervisor or nominated delegate including front counter duties.

An additional requirement:

Vaccination against Preventable Diseases. This position requires the successful applicant to work in hospital and health settings, which have additional workplace requirements from Queensland Health. It is mandatory for all roles that come into direct contact with patients to provide evidence of vaccination or proof of non-susceptibility for the following preventable diseases: Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (chickenpox), Pertussis (whooping cough).The successful applicant will be provided with official forms to be taken to their local GP for completion and boosters as required. The expectation is that staff have commenced this process before their first work day at QCHS. Any out-of-pocket costs are refunded to staff through QCHS reimbursement processes.
