About Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre

BYETC is a Department of Education school operating within the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre at Wacol. The school plays an important role in the community by providing young people in detention with opportunities to gain knowledge, skills, and values that enhance their capacity to pursue positive choices in the future.

BYETC offers a supportive learning environment with a focus on improving literacy, numeracy, vocational and personal skills. BYETC operates in a multi-agency environment and the school works closely with staff from a range of other government departments especially Youth Justice and Queensland Health personnel.

BYETC operates a 48- week year. Employment conditions are aligned to relevant awards and staff are able to access flexible working conditions including taking leave outside normal school holiday periods.

About the Role

Reporting to the Business Manager, the successful candidate will support a range of administrative functions at BYETC. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Processing student enrolments.
  • Managing front desk duties such as receiving visitors and answering office enquiries.
  • Office filing and archive management.
  • General administration tasks as required.

The position will be based at the Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre at Wacol.
