We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Academic Middle Leader-Science. This is a tier 3 position. This is a full-time fixed term role, covering a leave position.

About the role -
As a dynamic and innovative member of our school community, you will:
  • Create a nurturing and ordered learning environment which is learner-centred, safe, supportive, co-operative and aligned with relevant curriculum, policies and practices
  • Collaborate with your peers to develop and implement quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy
  • Coordinate and/or development of work programs according to national, state and local requirements
  • Conduct coordination of assessment, moderation and reporting programs, and the keeping of appropriate records
  • Keep abreast of developments within the area of responsibility through on-going professional reading and research and providing for the professional learning of staff in line with these developments
  • Engage in professional discourse with staff on an individual and departmental basis through regular meetings
  • Supervise the quality of teaching practice through activities such as collegial planning, moderation, classroom observation, and facilitation of reflective teaching practice
  • Supervise the quality of student learning through analysis of student performance data and addressing areas of concern through appropriate interventions
  • Contribute to the leadership of the school through active participation in staff and middle leadership meetings
  • Manage financial and material resources within the area of responsibility including the formulation of budgets and the expenditure of allocated funds
  • Regularly communicate with stakeholders about issues of legitimate interest and/or concern
  • Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
  • Work with the school leadership team and colleagues to contribute to the professional life of the school
  • Proactively engage with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes
  • Ensure that the teachings and values of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching.

About you -
To be successful in this role you will bring relevant qualifications and contemporary teaching experience in Science Middle Leader as well as:
  • Strong literacy, numeracy and digital literacy practices plus a clear understanding of the Australian Curriculum
  • Commitment to child safety
  • Hold appropriate qualifications and experience across all areas of Science
  • Attend in detail to innovative and creative practices
  • Lead the development and delivery of a vision for the Science department
  • Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven organisational skills
  • Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to achieve the best outcomes
  • Demonstrated competence against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers across professional knowledge, practice and engagement.

At BCE our teachers are required to:
  • Hold a current Queensland College of Teachers registration; and
  • Be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

If this role does not require you to teach Religious Education, you do not need to be Catholic.
We support all teachers with Accreditation to Teach pathways after you start with us.
