12-Month Contract | Part-time (Up to 55 hours per fortnight) 

Commencing Term 1, 2026

Hourly rate ranging from $33.06 - $43.23 depending on qualifications & experience

About the Role 

St John's College, Dubbo is seeking a dedicated Aboriginal Learning Support Officer to join the school community and help empower students to thrive spiritually, academically & culturally. In this holistic and rewarding position, you will work closely with teachers and school staff to support the wellbeing, learning, cultural connection, and engagement of Aboriginal students. You’ll play a vital role in fostering a safe, inclusive and nurturing school environment grounded in the Mission and Vision of Catholic education.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Model Catholic values, teachings, and foster a respectful, inclusive, and caring school culture

  • Support students’ spiritual growth and participation in the religious life of the school

  • Assist in creating safe, inclusive classrooms through whole-school policies and positive behaviour strategies

  • Ensure cultural safety while supporting Aboriginal students’ wellbeing, attendance, engagement, and cultural identity

  • Contribute to improved academic, social, emotional, and cultural outcomes for Aboriginal students

  • Collaborate with teachers, the AEO, and support teams while engaging in ongoing professional learning

About You

  • Commitment to Catholic values and school ethos

  • Passion for education and Aboriginal student support

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Experience working with children in educational settings

  • Able to engage positively with students in a school and classroom

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants are encouraged to apply 

  • Previous experience in a similar role

  • Current Working with Children Check 

  • Certificate III in Education Support or equivalent qualification (desired)
