About the Role
We are seeking for a dedicated Aboriginal Education Officer to join our team. The Aboriginal Education Officer aims to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with a range of cultural and educational programs and enhances the partnership between families of Aboriginal and/or students and their schools. This position provides support to teachers and school staff in matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education.

Qualifications  

  • Working with Children’s Check (WWCC) registration.
  • Successful candidate will complete the Certificate IV in Education Support through a scholarship program with CIT.

Selection Criteria 

  1. Applies knowledge in areas and a range of skills in a variety of roles and tasks.
  2. Uses discretion and judgement in organising and achieving outcomes in time constraints.
  3. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, in particular the ability to relate well to students and to work in teams with staff members.
  4. Initiative and the ability to handle a number of tasks concurrently, working independently and flexibly to adjust to changing situations.
  5. Ability to maximise student learning through the delivery of Dhurga and Aboriginal perspectives.
  6. Ability and willingness to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
