In 2024, the School began double-streaming and embarked on an exciting journey of growth over the next twelve years.

About You

The successful applicant will be an inspiring educational leader with excellent interpersonal, communication and staff management skills. They will possess a deep understanding of and commitment to Steiner/Waldorf education, ideally having taught at least one full cycle as a Class Teacher. They will have a strong but healthy work ethic and possess excellent organisational, time-management and conflict resolution skills. A generally positive outlook and attitude and the ability to hold personal and professional boundaries with empathy and respect are a must.

About the Role

The Primary School Faculty Leader provides collaborative leadership within the Primary School Faculty, with a view to develop and maintain a strong, dynamic, balanced and values-rich Steiner school that delivers a highly valued education and pedagogy. Critical to the successful delivery of a dynamic teaching, learning and educational administration is a sound understanding of Steiner’s pedagogical principles and the facilitation of these into operational and teaching practices at the School.

The Primary School Faculty Leader works to ensure adherence to School policies and matters of legal/administrative compliance, to support colleagues, and to ensure curriculum delivery, mentoring and development of teachers in accordance with the vision, values and ethos of the School. They provide active support to the Head of School, are a member of the School’s Leadership Team, take on an active role within the College of Teachers, and liaise across all faculties, including Learning Support & Administration.

Key selection criteria:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Steiner/Waldorf education and pedagogy and experience in translating these principles into operational and teaching practices
  • Demonstrated experience as a highly effective Steiner/Waldorf primary school teacher
  • Qualifications and commitment to personal and professional development in Steiner education and Anthroposophy
  • Sound knowledge of the Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework (ASCF) and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST)
  • Experience in educational leadership and management
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills with a variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent organisational, time management and collaborative planning skills
  • Experience and interest in policy development, implementation, and review
  • Demonstrated ability to see ‘the big picture’ while paying attention to detail
  • Genuine interest in Reconciliation and Aboriginal culture
  • Must hold or be eligible for Teacher Registration in South Australia
  • Must have full working rights in Australia

Essential Qualifications/Certificates

  • Bachelor or Master of Education/Teaching
  • Qualifications in Steiner/Waldorf pedagogy and Anthroposophy
  • Current ‘not-prohibit’ SA Working with Children Check
  • Current RRHAN-EC training certificate
  • Current Provide First Aid in an Education and Care setting certificate

This is a full-time, fixed-term replacement contract for the 2025 school year, commencing on or before 27 January 2025. Remuneration will be as a Teacher in accordance with the current Willunga Waldorf School Enterprise Agreement, plus a leadership allowance.
