1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Croydon, South London Start Date: December 2025 Pay: £95 - £115 per day

Veritas Education is partnering with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Croydon to recruit a dedicated 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from December 2025.

This OFSTED-rated 'Good' school is well known for its nurturing environment and strong commitment to supporting every child's individual needs. As a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide personalised support to a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and associated challenging behaviour. Your role will be key in helping the pupil access learning, develop confidence, and build positive relationships within the classroom.

The Ideal 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant Will Have:

  • Proven experience supporting children with ASD (essential)

  • Experience working with pupils who display challenging behaviour (essential)

  • Strong knowledge of strategies that support communication, emotional regulation, and engagement

  • High levels of patience, empathy, and resilience

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff and parents

    • Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with ASD and behavioural needs

  • Implementing SEN strategies and personalised interventions to promote engagement

  • Supporting the pupil's emotional regulation and social development

  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering differentiated learning activities

  • Using creative strategies and resources to encourage participation and understanding

  • Monitoring progress and sharing observations with the class teacher and SENCO

  • Helping maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
