Opening Keynote: Anthony Bedford
Anthony brings together a unique skill set in the fields of statistics, teaching, research, coaching and
directorship/executive management. With over 15 years experience of teaching, management, and research
at a University level, including membership of Academic Boards and Executive teams. He has presented over 50 talks worldwide and been invited speaker at numerous conferences , including the pre-Olympic conference in Liverpool in 2012. Published over 70 papers in fields of statistics, sports statistics, sports modelling, coaching and other affiliated areas. ‘I believe in making changes for the better, and know that the job is complete when we have achieved more than we expected to’.
Closing Keynote: Patricia Hosking: the William Simpson Practitioner Plenary
Patricia Hosking is Head of Mathematics at St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School and previously The Southport
School. She has taken a year of leave from St Aidan’s to take the secondment of Principal STEM Advisor Teacher in Residence for the QUT STEM for Schools program. Her Masters research investigated the feedback
practices of senior mathematics teachers and more recent research has focused on using test
preparedness strategies to improve students’ metacognitive monitoring. Patricia was awarded the
CHOOSEMATHS Outstanding Secondary Teacher Award this year and was a finalist in 2014 for the
Queensland College of Teachers Dr John Dwyer Excellent Leadership in Teaching and Learning.
