FREE Teacher Preview Evening @ The Australian Botanic Garden, PlantBank

Reserve your place to PlantBank's first FREE teacher preview event! Primary teachers and Secondary Science and Geography teachers are invited to preview the new education offerings of The Australian Botanic Garden. These new excursions will be launched June 2016. Drinks and nibbles on arrival whilst you explore PlantBank and witness one of the most diverse places on the planet - the seed vault, which holds seed collections from many of Australia’s 25,000 plant species.

Date June 23, 2016 - June 23, 2016
Time 3:45pm - 6:00pm

Our excursions bring the new Australian Curriculum to life! The Garden showcases a collection of solely Australian plants from the ancient rainforest Wollemi Pine to the arid and fire adapted plants of modern Australia. Students explore habitats and build shelters in the endangered Cumberland Woodland, dip-net for mini-beasts and even yabbies in a billabong, discover the secret life of seeds at the Australian PlantBank and also the rich land use history of the site from Dharawal occupation, clearing for agriculture, mining and urban infrastructure to the present scientific, conservation and recreational land use. We have every Stage covered in our easily accessible Virtual Excursions, joint excursions with the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living, as well as our hands-on Aboriginal programs.
