A Treaty Responsive Curriculum in Action, by Tamsin Hanly

Teachers and leaders often find effectively meeting the wider goals of ERO indicators and developing policies and curriculum that meet the Treaty of Waitangi expectations challenging. This course will expose teachers to new knowledge and effective strategies to teach these histories to school students across various curriculum in order to more effectively meet school-wide Treaty obligations.

The  world  views  and  knowledge  bases  of  tangata  whenua  and  Pakeha  will  be  explained  and  significant  historical  events  will  be  explored  from  both  these  perspectives.  Participants  will  be  able  to  identify  some  practical  ideas,  activities  and  strategies  to  engage  students  of  all  ethnicity  in  these  concepts  and  ideas  in  order  to  deepen  their  understandings  of  our  past.
