Held only once a year the Filmmaking Summer School is an industry-based film course especially designed for media teachers, students, those wanting to up-skill or change career direction and anyone interested in learning filmmaking at a professional level.

The Filmmaking Summer School has the support of Screen Studies, The University of Melbourne, Australia.

Using equipment provided at the course (you can bring your own camera and tripod if you wish) you’ll  learn how to expertly light, record images and sound and move cameras to get high production values.  We’ll also use iPhones, iPads, mirrorless cameras, camcorders and low-cost digital cinema cameras, and teach you to the free professional editing DaVinci Resolve - Cut Page software. If you prefer to use Adobe Premiere we can teach with that too

You’ll learn how to move your camera using devices that don't cost much and learn about filmmaking apps.

This is a very hands-on course and we encourage all participants to be involved in all aspects of filmmaking - story-telling, camera, sound, lighting, directing, acting and editing.

You’ll also get information on the latest affordable cameras (mirrorless, dedicated hand-held cameras), lighting, audio, sliders and stabilisers, which is invaluable for teachers in charge of ordering equipment for their schools or people wanting advice on what equipment to purchase.

By the end of the course participants should be able to produce better films with confidence.
