The Conference’s theme, “Walk with Me” will focus on the journey a learner takes and the Conference Program will include four strands:
- Education: pre to post schooling
- Behaviour
- Social emotional
- Practical strategies -‘hands on practice’.
In addition to the two days of Conference sessions by our keynote speakers and concurrent presenters, there will be the opportunity for delegates to visit Darwin schools on Thursday, 6th April.
The Conference Welcome Reception will be held on the evening of Thursday, 6th April, and the Conference Dinner will be held on the evening of Friday, 7th April.
AASE has a long term reputation for delivering excellent Conferences and we are working hard to ensure that this level of excellence continues in 2017.

The Conference Committee are delighted to have secured three keynote speakers.
Professor George Sugai is a world-renowned expert on positive behavioural interventions and supports. Professor Sugai will focus his presentations on the supports and interventions that delegates can then take home and share with colleagues, with the knowledge and skills to immediately implement these tools upon returning to their schools.
Professor Elizabeth Elliott AM is Professor in Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Sydney and Consultant Paediatrician at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Professor Elliott is a research leader, both nationally and internationally, and has presented across the globe. She is involved in clinical services, research, advocacy and policy development regarding Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). Professor Elliott is Chief Investigator for the Lililwan Project, which is addressing fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) in the remote Fitzroy Valley in the Kimberley, WA.
Associate Professor Helen Cahill was part of developing the evidence based ‘Building resilience social emotional learning materials’.
